i think this strip is funny for many reasons. First of all, this just shows that Millie likes to analyze every facet of life, down to the wierd language quirks that appear all over the place. Secondly, the way that she tries to apply the method stated to all speech, coming up with Inryowdib (or thereabouts, thats off the top of my head) from "Don't worry about it" just suits her random personality, which in and of itself is funny. Thirdly, we get to visually see the relationship that Ozy and Millie share. Despite Millie's wierdnes(yay wierdness!), ozy in the fourth panel sits back and relaxes like he had been doing in the first panel, while Millie is talking with her compressed speach. This seems to almost prove that Ozy really HAS been numbed to the wierdness that Millie emminates, he has come to accept it as what should be normal to him in life.
If you've done things right, people won't be sure if you've done anything at all.

I recomend you change the link to the <a href='http://www.ozyandmillie.org/2003/om20031121.html' target='_blank'>rerunned strip</a> as opposed to the <a href='http://www.ozyandmillie.org/2003/om20030630.html' target='_blank'>original strip.</a>

*LOL* I was going nuts because I had no way of figuring out which strip David Simpson was going to show for Friday, and it was not until lunchtime Saturday that I remembered my cellphone had internet capabilities.. ack.. Anyway, I was still going nuts because the page would not load, and then when it did, the images weren't up, and I was not going to bother trying to click back to Friday's strip. Anyway, for some strange reason, the lunchtime conversation had shifted to "Compressed speech", and I was able to get the tableful of relatives laughing about it. I was very surprised to find that THAT was the strip I missed on Friday. Simply knowing that now that I am back home made me feel that much more connected with this community.
