Too Blue

Postby naboolars » Wed Oct 24, 2007 2:04 am

The strip isn't framed very well, and the endless blue is a little disorienting. There should be something more than a rounded white rectangle highlighting the page's main attraction.
Do you think this squirt gun is big enough?

My favorite background is still the vertical light and dark blue stripes from five years ago.

While blank whiteness is not particularly interesting, allow me to attempt to brainwash you with one phrase:

Zen: The Background.

~sigh~ I don't read the comic for a week and now look what happens.. the whole site undergoes a transformation. This being said, I really like the new design (especially the colors). For reasons that are still not yet known, it has become increasingly more difficult to see things on a screen when the background is predominately white. The pale blue adds a really nice contrast to the site as far as I'm concerned. I'm well pleased with the site as a whole. The only thing that I miss is the ability to download the strips in zip files sorted by year. If there were a way to bring that back that would be great, if not then I'll just have to go about it the slow and arduous way of getting them one at a time.

(aside: hehe, been so long since I last posted on this site, and the first thing I do is post an insanely long post, haha).

For me, I think it's that the white kinda washes out the black. *longs for the days when everything was grey text on a black field*

You mean like on those dumbterms? The CSC over here has a couple of them Image

Though the oldest I remember was actually green lettering (the monitor only did that colour).

I only notice that on CRT monitors. Image LCD.

Also I like the new bits in the latest update, but the "SEP" in the calendar doesn't look right in Firefox/Gecko-based browsers.

And before anyone says "Durrr Firefox sucks", I should point out that DCS is probably wise enough not to take that attitude toward 20-25% (or more) of his readership. Image (OK OK so it's just a little thing not a huge page-breaker but I'm a perfectionist when it comes to making my pages render correctly cross-browser.)

Noticed something that at the moment that's inconvenient. There's no archive button.

Yes there is, right next to the previous button. Also welcome to the forums.
Here is fine, there is good, but DC is my home (IRC is my vacation home that I visit more often than a normal person visits a vacation home.)

Umm... hmm.

This new layout is a nice idea... but doesn't anyone else find it too 'narrow'? and now everything is down the page, rather than across it? I mean, look at the giant swathes of empty blue space to the left and right of the comic + links...

Also I personally find the blue slightly overpowering...

Did you visit said "SEP" page? Because that's the visited link colour Image
